It should become clear that Thai language is falling behind the need of government. The Royal Society is in charge of looking after the Reference Thai Dictionary (imlicitly “official” Thai language). Now that the government has named (in the ราชกิจจานุเบกษา) กระทรวงดิจิทัลเพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม when the word ดิจิทัล is not defined in the Royal Society Thai Dictionary. We should wonder if the government is “offside” or the Royal Society is “too slow”.

Dear โอ๋-อโณ : Life is like that! Isn't it.
Anyway, we have an issue here much more serious that: Thai language is not catching up living in this century. There are signs in science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The Thai terminology in these areas is cryptic, long, awkward and for time not well-translated (not capturing 'essence' of the concept or notion). While we don't expect the Royal Society to conversant in technology areas, we do expect work leading to (new words or compounds) Thai expresssions for use to communicate among Thais.
Let me give an example: (as the 'object' of this post is) 'digital' associates 'objects' to 'numeric' (in the same way as as 'objects' is notated with words (phonetically or alphabetically). The concept of 'digital' of linking things to 'numbers' (or digits) is not really new or advanced [for examples 1) John; 2) Discus; 3) Olympic games;...] we have been using 'difital' concepts in various ways for a very long long time. (Though, we got confused with its use in computer and telecommunication technologies.)
We can think of 'digital' as a label for 'numbered listing' in general and apply that notion to use in devices that only capable of operating with numbers. (Note that in computers, alphabet is represented number, people are linked to number, message, operation/action, transaction,... too. Computers work on lists... of lists of numbers associating to objects.)
Now, let us capture the essence of 'digital' in Thai.
Still too difficult? Here we have another aspect of the work for the Royal Society - simplication for Thai words and 'naturalization' of words to common usage ('from ivory tower to the bazaar'). ;-)
ไม่มีกระทรวงนี้ดีไหม แค่อยากจะอวดว่าจะใช้เครื่องมือที่ใช้ระบบดิจิตัลอย่างจริงจังในเศรษฐกิจ ทำไมไม่ให้มันแทรกอยู่ในงานอย่างธรรมชาติ และทุกอย่างในการบรืหารประเทศ ไม่ใช่แค่เศรษฐกิจ ก็ควรนำเข้ามาใช้ อยากร้องไห้เหมือนกัน
Now, now GD : This 'Ministry' (of Digital Economy?) is placed at junctions of many business crossings. I think 'digitization' of the ways Thailand do businesses is one right step (for 21C). In becoming 'digital', Thailand must ensure 'digital standards', 'digital security', 'digital research and development',... not just 'e-commerce', 'e-license', 'e-passport', 'e-tender/auction', 'e-trading',... We have not really looked into how to digitize all government operations and public services so that information can flow readily to-and-from gov offices and public outlets (websites, phone apps,...). It is a big field. Rules and referees are not well-defined yet. Clubs, Players and spectators will look and find ways to build some economy or markets for something.
I am thinking of setting consultants companies and lobbying for contracts. This ground should be worth mining for BIG money for some 15-20 years at least. ;-)
