Anyway, we have an issue here much more serious that: Thai language is not catching up living in this century. There are signs in science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The Thai terminology in these areas is cryptic, long, awkward and for time not well-translated (not capturing 'essence' of the concept or notion). While we don't expect the Royal Society to conversant in technology areas, we do expect work leading to (new words or compounds) Thai expresssions for use to communicate among Thais.

Let me give an example: (as the 'object' of this post is) 'digital' associates 'objects' to 'numeric' (in the same way as as 'objects' is notated with words (phonetically or alphabetically). The concept of 'digital' of linking things to 'numbers' (or digits) is not really new or advanced [for examples 1) John; 2) Discus; 3) Olympic games;...] we have been using 'difital' concepts in various ways for a very long long time. (Though, we got confused with its use in computer and telecommunication technologies.)

We can think of 'digital' as a label for 'numbered listing' in general and apply that notion to use in devices that only capable of operating with numbers. (Note that in computers, alphabet is represented number, people are linked to number, message, operation/action, transaction,... too. Computers work on lists... of lists of numbers associating to objects.)

Now, let us capture the essence of 'digital' in Thai.

Still too difficult? Here we have another aspect of the work for the Royal Society - simplication for Thai words and 'naturalization' of words to common usage ('from ivory tower to the bazaar'). ;-)
