เรียนรู้การทำหน้าที่อุดมศึกษาจากหนังสือ Ranking and the Reshaping of Higher Education : The Battle for World Class Excellence

 

          ผมขอขอบคุณ รศ. ดร. กฤตยา อาชวนิจกุล ที่กรุณาส่งหนังสือเล่มนี้มาให้  แค่อ่านคำนำของผู้เขียนผมก็เกิดแรงบันดาลใจเขียนบันทึกนี้  เพื่อสื่อสารว่า อาจารย์ และวงการอุดมศึกษาไทยควรดูตัวอย่างกิจกรรมของอาจารย์นักวิจัยผู้เขียนหนังสือ คือ Professor Ellen Hazelkorn   ดูเป็นตัวอย่างของการเป็นอาจารย์มหาวิทยาลัยผู้ตั้งข้อสงสัยต่อเรื่องใหญ่ๆ ที่มีผลกระทบต่อโลก ต่อสังคม   แล้วลงมือทำวิจัย

          โปรดอ่านย่อหน้าหนึ่งของคำนำดังนี้

 

“Given their visibility and popularity, this research has sought to understand the extent to which rankings are influencing and impacting on higher education, higher education leaders, faculty and students: Is the experience international or more predominant in particular countries or among certain types of institutions? How are HEIs responding, what kind of actions are they taking? How are rankings influencing key decisionmakers and policymakers? What about students, and other stakeholders – do they take account of rankings, and to what extent are they influenced by them? What are the longer term implications?”

 

          ผมมองว่า นี่คือตัวอย่างของการตั้งคำถามวิจัยที่สุดยอด  และที่สุดยอดทัดเทียมกัน คือการมีระเบียบวิธีวิจัยที่น่าเชื่อถือ

          ผมยังไม่ได้อ่านเนื้อใน  แต่มีแรงบันดาลใจที่จะสื่อต่อวงการอุดมศึกษาไทยในเรื่องการวิจัยทำความเข้าใจปรากฏการณ์ใหญ่ๆ ในสังคมและในโลก   ว่านี่คือจุดสำคัญของการทำหน้าที่อุดมศึกษา   ที่เป็นปัญญาของแผ่นดิน หรือชี้นำสังคม   หรือนโยบายสาธารณะ
