Fearful & fearsome คำแรกคือ ตนเองเกิดความกลัว คำหลัง ทำให้คนอื่นกลัว

Fearful รู้สึกหรือแสดงความกลัวหรือวิตกกังวล

They are fearful of the threat of nuclear war.

He is fearful that his career is over.

Fearful of continued unrest, the government imposed a state of emergency.

He was in a fearful hurry. (ใช้ไม่เป็นทางการเป็น adj.)

วิธีจำว่า คนที่ fierce นั้นเป็นผู้ที่น่าจะ fearsome มากกว่า fearful

Ferment & foment ทั้งสองคำ ใช้แทนกันได้ ในความหมายว่า ทำให้วุ่นวาย

Rebel soldiers fomented (หรือ fermented) unrest among the people.

Ferment ความหมายตามอักษร คือ การกระทำเพื่อให้เกิดการ fermentation

นั่นคือ เป็นเหตุให้เกิดก๊าซในของเหลวก่อตัวเป็นฟองและลอยขึ้นสู่อากาศ

Sugar is converted into alcohol by a process of fermentation.

The drink had fermented, turning some of the juice into alcohol.

เพราะเหตุที่ การ fermentation เป็นภาวะที่วุ่นวายและปั่นป่วน

เมื่อเป็น นาม ferment หมายถึง ความตื้นเต้น ความวุ่นวายสับสน อึกทึก

Foment หมายถึง ทำให้เกิดการต่อต้านหรือขัดแย้ง ปลุกปั่น ยั่วยุ

ใช้ foment เป็น กริยา ให้แนวคิดในทำนอง ทำให้เกิดความวุ่นวาย

ขณะที่ ferment เป็นทั้งนามและกริยา เน้นแนวคิดว่า อยู่ในภาวะของความวุ่นวายนั้น

I have a little note on suffix -ful and -some that i use quite often.

(adjective/noun) words with -ful have more or less a sense of 'filled' with 'that word' eg. fearful is filled with fear; dreadful is filled with dread; handful is filled the hand;...

And -some words have more or less a sense of 'cause of'/'causing' 'that word' eg. fearsome is causing fear; awesome is cause of awe; handsome is ... ;-)
