"...........Thaksin is actually more of a sideshow than he imagines. He is, apparently, going to return to Thailand tomorrow (via Laos I've been told) if conditions are right for his triumphant return. The red shirt leaders said they are not doing this for him and I believe them. He did a lot of good in the past (cheap loans for farmers, 30 baht [50p] healthcare etc) but his time has gone and in the end he was just too corrupt. "There are a lot more complex truth in Thailand than many pelple from other country to understand. The monarchy is always the most popular. We are proud of our King, he's the heart of our country.
It's sad to see what can happen to people when it comes to money, especially here in Thailand! The election in Thailand is not as clean as in some country, the more money the more vote you can gain. In this case, I guess I don't have to say who has that power.
As for Thai people, each of us come from many different back ground & education. For education, the people in the north-east and the north have a lower education comparing to those in the center & the south. The more educated people sure have better knowledges and justment, whereas the others can be easily influlent.
Thaksin is believed to be the course of chaos in Thailand, he owns the biggest corruption govement and been charge gulity! He's not just denied the court judgement and ran away, he also composed many lies and thread to Thailand. Especially to our country's heart, the monarcy.
As the media, you have all the right to make the "truthful" news. But please make sure you have all the understanding and information before you make and judgement news which can mislead all the truth.
As for being Thai, I pray with all my heart to see these chaos ended and my country return to it's beauty & peace soon."
".........we all hope for a compromise to be reached. I'm neither Yellow nor Red. I'm just a peace loving Thai. We want democracy that works, with checks and balances in place. The Red is right that we don't want Aristrocracy and the Yellow is also right that some elected politicians had their snouts too deep in the trough and we couldn't do much about them because they corrupted the justice system. Let's work together to get what we want folks. It's possible! Don't push each other to the corner, because no one gains from that. We are all Thais."
"Thaksin presided over the deaths of 84 unarmed students suffocated by the army at Tak Bai. Around 2500 people were murdered on a so called war on drugs - seen by many as Thaksin's way of getting rid of witnesses and otherwise as a smokescreen for politically motivated killings (he does seem to have done very well for himself on a policemans's salary fwiw). Numerous disappearances, including a human rights lawyer add to the scrore card. Not to mention his and his wife's conviction for graft when they could no longer manipulate the judicial process - how any billions were stashed in his driver's and maids' names in the asset concealment trial that he "won"?
Now Red, I don't know how old you are, but I'm old enough to have seen a lot in my life time. My suspicion is that the class rift was created just to get people to sympathise with Thaksin. My late grandma was a poor farmer in Isarn and she voted for Democrats all her life. Thailand is still a poor country, and only stupid politicians will ignore the poor. Without them, they will never make it to the office. And hey, there is nothing in Thailand that will stop the poor from working toward what they aspire to in life. I was born to abject poverty myself, but I work hard to get where I am. Step back from the crime scene and ask yourself why did this happen? It's all about Thaksin! You said yourself you don't want any one to be above the law. Thaksin is a very capable man, and very popular. But he should not be above law either. I want him to return and clear his name, through a legal mean. Don't you find it weird that he urged you guys to fight for revolution while he himself was hiding abroad? Return home, Red, and write to your MPs or prime minister. Tell him what you want. Dialogue works. Violence won't. Good luck mate."

Meanwhile Thaksin and his family enriched themselves on a scale that Marcos and Suharto would have been in awe of."
