เมื่อใช้ “any” เป็น สรรพนาม หรือ คุณศัพท์

หมายถึง “หนึ่ง” “บ้าง” (some) “ใด ๆ” (no matter which) เช่น

‘Which dress shall I wear?’ ‘Wear any dress.’

‘Which dress shall I pack?’ ‘Pack any. (dress)’

‘John has been to some interesting places but I’ve never been to any.’

‘We have hardly any coffee left.’

เป็น คุณศัพท์ แปลว่า “ทุก ๆ” (every) เช่น

‘Any schoolboy could tell you the answer.’

เมื่อใช้ เป็น กริยาวิเศษณ์

แปลว่า “บ้าง” = (by a small amount) เช่น

‘Is this book any better than the last one?’

‘His writing hasn’t improved any.’

เป็น สรรพนาม ในรูป “anybody” “anyone”

แปลว่า “ใคร ๆ” (some person) ในประโยค คำถาม และปฏิเสธ เช่น
