We had been busy with bushfire prevention in usually dry Winter months. Then some good rains came and came. We had one 117 mm rain one night and that rain washed out parts of our dirt driveway. So we switched hats from 'fire fighters' to 'road workers'. Nature is wonderful. Nature provides new unexpected opportunities with each new moment.

We can say the same on Thailand education policy. A few months ago, we had the cancellation of OTPC tablets (for kids) program in favour of another 'smart classroom' project. Then we had a change of policy:

We have to move on from one thing to another even before we have a chance to assess the results and costs of previous policies. We give benefits of doubt to whatever or whoever responsible for the policies and let the policies die and let people involved wash their hands free.

But this is just another 'sowing in the winds' (maybe in modern terms we can call it 'hot air ballon' ;-)

So we move on. Let me tell you about a report on an episode of Catalyst on ABC last Thursday:

Where Does Fat Go? http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4076106.htm... Thursday, 28 August 2014
( Story Contacts: Prof. Andrew Brown Head of School, Biomolecular Sciences, UNSW)

The world is obsessed with fad diets and weight loss. With a whopping two-thirds of all Australians now overweight or obese, you'd think everyone would know the answer to the most obvious weight loss question of all - when you burn fat, where does it go?

...the average human fat molecule, and like all fat molecules, it's made of just three elements - It contains 55 carbon atoms, 105 hydrogen atoms and six oxygen atoms.

...To lose just one of these molecules, you have to inhale 78 molecules of oxygen. And then, via this amazing chemical process, you'll convert this molecule into 55 molecules of carbon dioxide, or CO2, and 52 molecules of water - H2O. The atoms haven't ceased to exist, they've just changed into something new...

...if you start with 10kg of fat then what you end up with here is 8.4kg of carbon dioxide and 1.6kg of water. So, you're essentially breathing out most of the fat when you lose weight...

For a moment I thought -- hey this may be another way to save the world from 'greenhouse gases' -- we should not do exercises, get fitter, -- release more carbon dioxide, ...

Should we praise obesity and save the world from more CO2?
