สุภาษิต...ยอกย้อน...ย้อนศร...ย้อนยอก...หรืออะไรดี
มาจากสมุดกระดาษสาอีกชิ้นหนึ่งค่ะ จดไว้เมื่อสิบกว่าปีที่แล้ว อ่านแล้วก็ยังอดอมยิ้มไม่ได้ เลยเอามาฝากค่ะ มีหลายคู่มากเลย คุณ Rod และคุณ Irwin ท่านขยันหามาจับคู่กัน เป็นสุภาษิตฝรั่งที่ความหมายมันแย้งกันน่ะค่ะ นอกจากจะได้รู้จัก สุภาษิตของเค้าแล้ว ยังได้เข้าใจความหมายจากการที่เค้าเอามันมาจับคู่กันอีกด้วยนะคะ ตอนนี้จะลองแปลๆดูเท่าที่ทำได้ก่อน อาจจะเป็นแบบ"ลูกทุ่ง"นะคะ เป็นการพักผ่อนสนุกๆ

สุภาษิตไม่ใช่ตัวแทนของความจริง เป็นเพียงการประมาณค่า
บางครั้งการประมาณค่าทำได้ไม่ดี ก็จะเกิดรอยร้าวของตรรกะ ทำให้สับสน
ยกตัวอย่าง
The pen is mightier than the sword. but Actions speak louder than words
ความจริงอาจจะเป็นว่า "การแก้ปัญหาแต่ละอย่าง มีวิธีการเฉพาะตัว" ซึ่งฟังดูทื่อและไร้ประโยชน์
เราเห็นการแก้ปัญหาด้วย The pen ลุล่วง เราก็บอกกับตัวเองว่า ประโยคแรกจริง
เราเห็นการแก้ปัญหาด้วย Action ลุล่วง เราก็จะบอกกับตัวเองว่า ประโยคหลังก็จริงมาก ๆ
ปืนเจอปากกากลางทุ่งนา ปากกาคงหัก
ปืนเจอปากกาในสภา ในทีวี ปืนก็คงบอด
ประโนชน์ของสุภาษิตที่ดูคล้ายขัดแย้ง คงไม่ใช่เพื่อให้ใช้พร้อมกันทั้งสองส่วน
แต่คงต้องเลือกใช้ทีละส่วนตามความเหมาะสมครับ ประโยชน์ทั้งสองส่วนจึงจะเกิด
เพราะถ้าใช้พร้อมกัน คนที่ใช้อาจคางเหลือง
ลืมไปนิดนึงครับ
กรณีที่ดูแย้งกันเองในตัวแบบนี้ รู้สึกเขาจะใช้คำว่า Paradox ครับ
