I got up at 04:12 AEST, looked at the weather forecast around
the world on SBS tv, found 'again' rains from ชุมพร to ตาก and
ฝั่งตะวันออก. With the grounds having water from rains last year
and recent rains last week, the chance of (flash) floods must be
high.
But do we have in-ground
moisture data? Do we use in-ground moisture data to assess possible
floods?
so I looked at พยากรณ์อากาศในประเทศไทย

Psss, I don't U-Tapao to do my weather research. I got my data from SBS tv which got data from Hawaii -- errr... a US weather bureau ;D
I can launch my drones (unmanned surveilance and attack aircrafts) from my aircraft carriers (boats) but I can't land them on the carrier safely yet (they can hit the rolling deck and blow up). So, I need solid ground to do that. (Hey, I used that patch before. It has everything I need. Just a liitle furnishing and "fly-away boys!") Umm, I wonder if they buy weather surveys for early flood warnings. They can't have another big flood (in two months time). The PM looks easy to take the bait anyway...

I heard that Pimai may be in for the Flu2009 (swine flu?), some 30 people in Korat are already affected. No, the flu didn't come with rains, it comes with rain water washing the ground where pig farms are -- run-off water into rivers and ...
This year, if it floods again, it can be a triple whammy: water, electricity and flu. Are we ready at schools and hospitals?
I should have typed "Psss, I don't use U-Tapao to do my weather research..." in my previous post.
Anyway, here is another forecast of rains from Krabi up. Please note the clouds over Tibet - the source of the Mekong river. If the rain water gets pass umpteen hydro-electric dams in Westerm China...

Landslides and floods caused by heavy monsoon rains have killed at least 91 people in southern Bangladesh and many more were missing, the government says.
Officials said the landslides occurred mainly in remote villages with poor roads, making rescue work more difficult.
At least 37 died in Cox's Bazar, 33 in neighbouring Bandarban and another 21 in Chittagong, mostly in a series of landslides, the Disaster Management Ministry said. It said soldiers were joining the search for the missing.
Three days of torrential rain in the region of small hills and forests dislodged huge chunks of earth which buried flimsy huts where families were sleeping late on Tuesday and early on Wednesday. Many homeless people live at the foot of the hills or close to them despite warnings from authorities.
Many of the dead were women and children, officials said. In Bandarban an 11-year-old boy was the only member of his family to survive because he was away when mud buried his hut. His parents and three siblings perished...
Monsoon floods are common in Bangladesh, a delta nation of 160 million people.
Volunteers using loudspeakers warned people about the danger of landslides during the rains, ... The floods inundated dozens of villages and were disrupting communications in the region.
Flood waters covered many roads and washed away a railway bridge, snapping road and rail links between Dhaka and the three districts. An airport in Chittagong was closed after floodwaters swamped its runway, but reopened on Wednesday after the rains stopped, officials said.
The government said relief workers were distributing rice and water to hundreds of displaced people.

North Korea has dispatched soldiers to pour buckets of water on parched fields as the worst dry spell in a century grips the Korean Peninsula.
Parts of North Korea are experiencing the most severe drought since record keeping began nearly 105 years ago.
The protracted drought is heightening worries about North Korea's ability to feed its people, with two-thirds of North Korea's 24 million people facing chronic food shortages.

Up to 2,000 people have been forced to flee severe flooding in parts of Myitkyina after several days of heavy rain in northern Burma caused water levels on the Irrawaddy River to rise dramatically.
The flooding began two days ago in five quarters of the Kachin State capital, including Myit Thit Gyi, Rambu and Sitarpu. According to local sources, people living in those areas have taken shelter in monasteries, schools and churches in the city.
“Around 1,500 to 2,000 people are staying in temporary shelters because of the flooding,” Kyaw Thiha, a member of the opposition National League for Democracy from Myitkyina, told The Irrawaddy on Wednesday.
There are about 500 people staying at the Aung Zaeya Monastery alone, while many others are staying at churches or with relatives, he added.
Two high schools and most primary schools in the affected areas have been closed, and electricity has also been cut.
Some who fled said that they brought enough food to meet their needs for a few days, but worry that it might not last if the water doesn’t recede soon. Many others, however, are in immediate need of assistance.
“The refugees don’t have enough food, clean drinking water and sanitation,” said Kyaw Thiha.
He added that water levels have remained stable since this morning.
Myitkyina was also heavily flooded in 1979 and 2004.
