English for Table Manners: ขอบคุณสำหรับอาหาร...อิ่มจัง(ตังค์อยู่ครบ)

หนีไม่พ้นเรื่องกินอีกแล้ว ขอเสนอภาษาอังกฤษที่ใช้เมื่อเราได้รับเชิญไปทานข้าวที่บ้าน ใครได้รับเชิญไปทานอาหารที่บ้านนับว่าเป็นการให้เกียรติ เพราะที่บ้านเป็นที่ส่วนตัวมากๆ  

You are a guest at dinner with friends or colleagues (เพื่อนร่วมงาน).

 

How would you refuse (say no) when you are offered more food? 
จะกล่าวปฎิเสธอย่างไรหากเจ้าภาพคะยั้นคะยอตักอาหารให้ แหะๆ ส่วนมากเดี๊ยนไม่ปฎิเสธ อยู่แล้ว แต่เพื่อรักษามารยาท ต้องจำใจกล่าวว่า

- No, thank you. I couldn’t eat another bite. 
- Thank you, but no more for me.
- That was very good, but I’m full.
- I’m stuffed (very full) and I can’t eat anymore.
- No, thank you. I don’t have room (space) for more.

room ในที่นี่ไม่ได้หมายถึง ห้อง นะคะ แต่คือ ไม่มีที่ว่างในกระเพาะแล้วค่ะ

 

 

ไหนๆ กินฟรีแล้ว กล่าวชมอาหารเขาว่าอร่อยแบบนี้ค่ะ

Give a compliment about food.

 

- That was delicious.   ... (แซบอีหลี ดีหลิเชียสเด้อ)

- That was awesome.  ... สุดยอด
- That’s the best meal I’ve had in a long time.
- Your cooking is such a treat.   

 

- The food was so scrumptious/delectable/yummy อร่อย

- mouth-watering ชวนให้นํ้าลายไหล

- The curry tastes great                  แกงรสเยี่ยมมาก
- Wow, you must have big appetize  กินเก่งจังนะ


- What a delectable meal !!
    เป็นมื้อที่อร่อยจริงๆ

- Thank you very much for inviting me for dinner.

- Thanks for having us here tonight

blow your nose    สั่งน้ำมูก

Make a lot of noise when you are eating.       ทำเสียงดังเมื่อเคี้ยวอาหาร

Slurp your soup.   ซดน้ำซุปเสียงดัง

Do not pick your nose, teeth, or nails at the table     แคะ แกะ เกา
