อธิบาย การใช้ cache – hide - stash
เมื่อเป็น นาม CACHE หมายถึง “a hiding place”
เมื่อเป็น กริยา หมายถึง “to conceal” เช่น
‘The Joneses placed their silverware in a cache upstairs.’
‘You had better cache that money somewhere so that it won’t be discovered.’
ส่วน HIDE เป็นคำที่ ใช้บ่อยที่สุดในกลุ่มนี้ หมายถึง
“to put/keep out of sight
“Hide that letter in the file.”
ส่วน STASH เป็นคำใช้ไม่เป็นทางการ
ไม่พบที่มา มีความหมายตรงที่สุดกับสิ่งที่ “cache” ทำ
มีความแตกต่าง ในการใช้ ทั้งสามคำ เพียงเล็กน้อย โดยที่
CACHE เกี่ยวข้องกับ concealment in a place unknown to others. และชี้แนวทางว่า เป็น การซ่อนเพื่อใช้ในภายหลัง
HIDE อ้างถึง “จัดวางสิ่งของจับต้องได้” ให้พ้นสายตา รวมถึง “ซ่อนความคิด/ความรู้สึก”
คำอื่นที่อาจแทนที่ได้ รวมถึง ‘secrete’ - ‘bury’ – conceal – screen & ‘cloak’
