ออกเสียงคำอ่าน ‘ANYWAY’ ‘EN-ee-wey’
และ ให้ข้อสังเกตุ การใช้ ANYWAY
เป็น ADVERB ที่สะกดเป็น คำเดียว เช่น
“It was snowing hard, but we drove to the play anyway.”
ถ้าเป็น วลี ที่แยกเป็น สองคำ ANY WAY หมายถึง
‘in any manner’ เช่น
“Finish the job any way you choose.”
ถ้าสามารถใช้ ‘in the’ แทนที่ any จะเรียกว่า “two-word phrase” เช่น
“Finish the job in the way you choose.”
แต่ถ้า การแทนที่ ไม่อาจทำได้ ต้อง สะกด เป็นคำเดียวANYWAY

เมื่อผู้พูด เริ่มต้นด้วยคำ ‘ANYWAYS’
เป็นการบ่งชี้ ว่า เขากำลังพูดต่อ ในเรื่องที่ค้างไว้จากครั้งก่อน เช่น
“Anyways, I told Matilda that guy was a lazy bum before she ever married him.’
ยังมีการใช้ ALWAYS ที่ ท้ายวลี หรือ ประโยค
ให้หมายถึง “in any case” เช่น
“He was not all that good-looking anyways.”
แต่ถ้าใช้ anyway ที่เป็นคำทางการมากกว่า จะทำให้ประโยคนี้ สละสลวย

ที่มักถูกมองว่า เป็น dialectical (เป็นการเลี่ยงที่จะบอกตรงๆ ว่า ผิด)
แต่การใช้ในความหมายนี้ มิใช่สิ่งที่คนส่วนใหญ่ คัดค้าน
ความหมายที่ คนทนไม่ได้ คือ ‘at any rate’ ‘in any case’
ที่เป็นความหมายใหม่ ที่ลงบันทึกการใช้ ตั้งแต่ต้น ศตวรรษที่ 19
