การใช้ภาษาอังกฤษ ที่ถือว่าถูกต้องในที่นี้ อ้างอิงตามมาตรฐานของภาษา


Teeth นาม รูป พหูพจน์ ของ “tooth”

โดยที่ไม่มีเหตุผล อธิบาย คำที่ใช้ทั่วไปว่า

“has a toothache” โดยไม่จำกัดว่า ฟันที่ปวดนั้นมีกี่ซี่

“Toothbrush” ใช้กับแปรงสีฟัน ที่แม้จะใช้ทำงานกับฟันทั้งปาก

“Tooth marks” ว่า รอยกัด ที่อาจเกิดจากฟันหลายซี่

วลีอื่นๆ ที่ใช้ “tooth” เช่น

“have a sweet tooth” ใช้ไม่เป็นทางการ หมายถึง “ชอบอาหารหวาน”

“long in the tooth” หมายถึง “แก่ (อย่างเห็นได้ชัด) หรือ อาวุโส (elderly)”

“red in tooth and claw” หมายถึง “เกี่ยวพันกับการต่อต้านหรือการแข่งขัน ที่ใช้ความรุนแรงและไม่มีความปราณี”

“tooth and nail” หมายถึง “ดุเดือด/รุนแรง”
