What is the truth and what is your totem?

If the dreamer finds herself questioning the reality of the dream, she must take a leap of faith: her actions are thus constantly negotiated through the highly contingent nature of the area and, by extension, the nature of reality.

(1) In the famous Plato's work, The Republic, he has his mentor, Socrates described multiple façades of truth by mentioning about the people imprisoned in the cave watching shadows projected on the wall by things passing in front of a fire behind them, and begin to designate names to these shadows. The shadows are as close as the prisoners get to viewing reality. Even one prisoner has been freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall do not make up reality at all, as he can perceive the true form of reality rather than the mere shadows seen by the prisoners, he will not explain the remaining prisoners of the "true" reality he has found.

(2) The totem is as an instrument to identify the reality and the dream. The danger of mistaking dreams for reality is always present, and it's complicated by the fact that there's only one way to know "for certain" if you're asleep: ending your life. If the dreamer finds herself questioning the reality of the dream, she must take a leap of faith: her actions are thus constantly negotiated through the highly contingent nature of the area and, by extension, the nature of reality.

(3) "What Cobb learns, though, is that he can choose, he can live in a world defined by self-doubt, paranoia and guilt, always rooted in the past, or he can live in a world defined by trust, always open to the possibility of intimacy and love. It's that choice that allows him to be welcomed back to reality by his mentor and father-in-law Miles, to rejoin the company of friends, to recapture the possibility of relations built on trust rather than contract and control. It's that choice that allows him to experience the reality of his children once again, and having made that choice he no longer needs to dwell on the possibility that he's being deceived. In the context of that choice, he can spin the top and look away and let it fall as it may."

(4) This is my ‪#‎totem‬ to remind me a long journey of humanity. We are yet to expand our knowledge and civilization beyond our planet. Never give up to the stupidity of the premodern conservatives.
