Abstract:
According to the study on the scientific and the mathematical tests, it was found that there was a tendency of down grading on the national and international testing standard which was below 50%. In fact, sciences and mathematics seemed to be the most important subjects in the development of the country.
In reality, most of the developed nations had students with high potential and high capability in sciences and mathematics. Therefore, it must be essential to develop the capabilities of the Thai students in every level of education and in every group such as special talented group, high-medium-low level of efficiency groups. The goal was to upgrade the quality of education in the fields of sciences and mathematics.
The special classroom project was initiated to improve the quality of education in Thailand with an aim to standardize the quality of education and to improve the student development to the fullest of their capacities. The end result would be high efficiency learning.
Actually, the special classroom program was the cooperation amongst the Office of Fundamental Education Council Committee (OFECC), the Office of Higher Education Council Committee (OHECC), and the Office of National Science and Technology Development (ONSTD) as well as the Science and Technology Teaching Promotion Institute (STTPI). The objective was to expand the development and to promote the special ability in Science and Technology of the country.
The curriculum and the syllabus were designed on special teaching and instruction so that students could be encouraged and be developed in terms of special training, for instance, to join the scientific camping, sightseeing and tour of duties, to be trained with researchers in the Universities or Government Offices or Private sectors. The promotion was aimed at the Scientific, Mathematic and Technological Projects. ,
In summary, the supports would be included the financial funding and the assistance to present the academic works in the provincial, regional and national levels.
