The Fascination of Hong Kong

Hong Kong holds a fascination for people when they arrive in this busy metropolis, with its throngs of people that are going in different directions looking like ants going back to their nests. It is a wonderful city with something for everyone to do. One of the best things about Hong Kong is their transport system, their train system is fast and clean and you never have to wait more than a few minutes for a train to arrive. They are air conditioned and although you will probably have to stand the trip is normally short.

There is mini buses that run through the city and the suburbs, modern two decker buses as well on the main runs and trams that traverse the city. The trams are very skinny and a must do. Public transport is very cheap, you can buy a card called an octopus card which you load with some money - similar to an eftpos card. This card can be used to buy products from stores as well.

Taxis are very reasonable as well, the flag fall is $15.00HK dollars and takes you about 5klms for that money. If there is a few of you traveling together then it will be cheaper to go by taxi, you wont have a problem finding one - they are everywhere! In Hong Kong most of the drivers speak English or have an understanding of it, if you are going somewhere a little different then it would probably be a good idea to have a business card with the name and address on it preferably in Chinese.
