บันทึกนี้น่าจะเป็นแง่มุมครอบครัว สังคม และข้อคิด เรียนรู้จากข่าวเรื่องจริง
แม่วัย 25 ปีติดเฮโรอีนเคยได้รับการปลูกถ่ายตับครั้งแรกเมื่อปีที่แล้ว (รัฐออกค่าใช้จ่ายให้โดยใช้เงินภาษี) แต่ต่อมาไม่ได้ผลเนื่องจากการกลับไปเสพยาอีก ทำให้จำเป็นต้องปลูกตับครั้งที่สอง (ค่าใช้จ่ายจากการกู้ยืมจากรัฐบาล) แต่เกิดภาวะแทรกซ้อนและเสียชีวิตทิ้งลูกชายไว้สองคน [1]
การกู้ยืมนี้รัฐบาลให้พิเศษคนเดียวเท่านั้น เป็นการพิจารณาเฉพาะกรณีไม่ได้ทำเพื่อเป็นตัวอย่าง

"The case of the young woman needing a liver transplant is being treated as a one-off situation on its own merits, so any situation would be looked at individually and we're not about creating precedents," [2]
เรื่องนี้เป็นอุทาหรณ์เพื่อพึงใส่ใจว่า ยาเสพติดอาจเข้าสู่เยาวชนและมีผลต่อการรักษาและครอบครัว
