            I love the way coincidences cast magic to lives. One of the most memorable surprises appeared to be a torn scrap of paper belonged to my best friend. The moment the meaning of the four lines written on it sank in, I was elated.

                 We were touched with the very same quote from Khalil Gibran’s “Broken wings”. I had the Thai version, of course, written in my quotes collection book long time back. The translated “Broken wings” by ระวี ภาวิไล is no doubt the wonderful piece. However, it is not an easy task to convince my friend the superp quality of the translation. I tried my best to assure him that everything was beautifully and gracefully translated. All the meanings were there, the charm of the story was well preserved and conveyed with carefully selected words of equal beauty, depth and meaning. On top of that the translator is the master of art in writing himself. I found it very hard to convince my friend firstly because I’m not a scholar in literature myself and secondly, the best proof for the translator’s quality would be his own pieces written in English of which I haven’t known. 

             It did surprise me even more about different attitude my friend and I had toward the quote. This quote seems to speak to me because I always value the relationship between lovers that way. On the other hands, my friend believes in properly planned relationship. For my friend, a successful relationship can’t possibly grow from an accident like “love at first sight” A pro-romantic clans, like me, were so childish. 

            For me, the whole point was about a special bond that had to be established between the two in order to go through something very serious together. Either it was created at the first sight which I also doubt it very much...or, more practical, at some points of time. Pretty much like others, however, this type of relationship doesn’t guarantee a 100% success. Nothing does. But it’ll surely promise a safe landing…alone or not, it’s worth it.

        Try "Broken wings" or "ปีกหัก" and tell me what you think. :)
