เฟซบุ้ค เป็นเว็บที่นิยมใช้ติดต่อเพื่อนและรู้จักเพื่อนใหม่ทางอินเตอร์เน็ต  แต่ข่าวที่ผ่านมาเฟซบุ้คก็เป็นแหล่งข้อมูลสำหรับประโยชน์อย่างอื่น เช่น

1. หญิงสาวถูกทำร้ายเกือบตาบอดใน pub แจ้งตำรวจตำรวจไม่มีข้อมูลที่จะสืบหา เธอค้นหาข้อมูลจากเฟซบุ้คเริ่มจากเพื่อนชายที่รู้จักนำไปสู่หญิงที่ทำร้ายเธอในที่สุด

2. ข่าวว่า ผู้ป่วยค้นหาข้อมูลของแพทย์หญิงจากเฟซบุ้คแล้วนัดเดท แต่เนื่องจากจรรยาบรรณได้กำหนดความสัมพันธ์ของแพทย์และผู้ป่วยให้อยู่ในกรอบปฏิบัติที่เหมาะสมกับวิชาชีพ ก็มีข่าวเตือนให้ระมัดระวังข้อมูลส่วนตัว

3. นักศึกษาสาวอเมริกัน ประวัติการเรียนดีมาก ตอนเป็นเด็กก็เรียบร้อยดี ถูกศาลพิพากษามีความผิดในคดีฆาตรกรรมเพื่อนสาวชาวอังกฤษที่อยู่ด้วยกันในขณะศึกษาที่อิตาลี  ข้อมูลในเฟซบุ้คก็อาจมีส่วนต่อบุคคลิกของเธอในปัจจุบัน
