collocations and compounds

 เขียนเรื่องนี้เพราะรู้สึกสับสน  ไม่เคลีย กับคำทั้ง 2 ชนิดนี้ค่ะ  ในการเตรียมความพร้อมของตัวเองในการเข้าสอบ TKT สำหรับครูที่สอนภาษาอังกฤษ  ในช่วงเดือน พฤษภาคมที่จะถึงนี้  มีความรู้สึกว่าขณะนี้ครูที่สอนภาษาอังกฤษ กำลังถูกกระตุ้นอย่างมาก  เพราะในปีงบประมาณ  2550  มานี้สอบมาแล้ว  2  ครั้ง  และต้องสอบอีก  ไม่ต่ำกว่า 2  ครั้ง  ในอีก  1-3  เดือนข้างหน้า...พูดแล้วเครียด...กลัวสอบไม่ผ่านค่ะcollocations  : words that often occur together                       ( คำที่มักมาด้วยกันเป็นชุด และมีความหมายเฉพาะเจาะจง) e.g. do karate, play basketball, go shopping, accept responsibility , strongly suggest, pay packet , happy about, heavy rain,  etc. compounds : two or more words are joined to form a new words.                       ( คำที่มาด้วยกันเป็นชุด  มีความหมายใหม่เกิดขึ้น )           e.g.     1. band + wagon                =    bandwagon                   2. him + self                     =    himself                   3. every + one                  =    everyone                   4. tail + coats                   =    tailcoats                   5. note + book                  =    notebook                    6. hand + bag                    =    tailcoats  อีกนิดกับ  idiom  is a phrase where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words.e.g.       a bit much If something is excessive or annoying, it is a bit much.            a big fish  an important person in a company or an organization is a big fish.Break ground If you break ground, or break new ground, you make progress, taking things into a new area or going further than anyone has gone before. แค่แยกว่าอะไรเป็นอะไรผมก็งงแล้ว -_-'

แต่ว่า collocation กับ compound มันไม่ใช่ disjoint set นะครับ

ดูเหมือน compound จะเป็น collocation ด้วย แต่อย่าง collocation บางอย่าง เช่น phrasal verb ผมไม่แน่ใจว่าเป็น compound หรือเปล่า

Good evening คุณเอ๋...The meaning of some vocabulary is create by making compound words  or by collocationcompound words : ( two or more words together that have meaning as a set, e.g. telelphone nuber, bookshop ) ดูจากตัวอย่างนี้  compound น่าจะหมายถึงความหมายที่เป็นชุดเดียวกันไหมคะคล้าย ๆ กับ lexical sets แต่ต่างกันอีกตรงที่ lexical sets จะเน้นคำที่อยู่ในหมวดหมู่เดียวกันเป็น topicไปเลย เพียงแต่ compound จะนำคำ 2 +..คำมาผสมเป็นชื่อใหม่เท่านั้น ส่วนคำที่มาผสมจะเน้นที่คำนามด้วยกันส่วน Collocatuon จะเป็น phrase บ้าง ประโยคสั้น ๆ บ้าง จะมีทั้ง Noun,Verb,Adjective มาร่วมใน Collocatuon เห็นด้วยไหมคะcollocation : ( words that often uccur together, e.g. to take a holiday, heavy rain, clear skin).ตัวอย่างมันต่างกันนะคะ ดิฉันก็ไม่ใช่ Expert man เสียด้วย ขอแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้แค่นี้ก่อนคะ  อ้อ! คุณเอ๋ กรุณาอย่าถือสาลูกBenของดิฉันเลยนะคะ ( solomon) แกเรียกร้องความสนใจมากไปหน่อย แกเป็นเด็กพิเศษหน่ะค่ะ ( Hyperactive) คือต้นเหตุที่ดิฉันนำแกหาเพื่อนที่ที่นี่หน่ะคะ ต้องขอโทษล่วงหน้าถ้าเขามารบกวนบ่อย ๆ สวัสดีคะ
