ANALYTICAL STUDY OF KARMA, HELL AND HEAVEN IN BUDDHISM 3
By Uthai Eksaphang
The fourth chapter explains the beginnings of life. The birth and the way to Hell. Here I have discussed the question : What is Heaven ? I have described the location of Heaven and Hell also.
The fifth chapter explains the concept of Karma in the contemporary Buddhist Literature. It also deals with some of the misunderstanding regarding the theory. I have also suggested that there is need to correct these misunderstanding. For example, some people say that this doctrine leads towards inaction ; but I find in Buddhism that it is a religion which does not accept a creator or Super Reality. It believes in the ability of man which can develop and purify human mind. All misunderstanding goes off when we understand the correct meaning of Karma as stated in the literature.
From the analytical study we are able to have facts which will help us to remove our misunderstanding in the subject of meaning, and also to remove the misunderstanding in the view point.
The sixth chapter I try to find an analytical study of Hell and Heaven in light of Theravada Buddhism. The view of life in this world is also discussed here. We get many view points about the existence of Hell and Heaven. In this regard it is good to examine two points, whether the view that Hell and Heaven really exist in the character in the mind ( Namadhamma ) But in the same way it will show that “no” about the Hell and Heaven to be place of Rupadhamma.
Another view that is prevalent is that both Hell and Heaven is both in charater are being in the way of mind and in the place.
In the “Conclusion”, we have a reflection on the life of Lord Buddha who is the origin of Buddhism. All the doctrines of Lord Buddha is full of cause and reason, which can provide us with the enough information which will clarify our many doubts.
In brief, I can only say that Hell and Heaven is the place where people go after their death according to their actions in this world. Both Hell and Heaven is within a man. If he has a happy experience or if he feels happy then we say he is in Heaven. On the other hand is suffering and If he feels happy then we say he in Heaven On the other hand is suffering and If he is experiencing very miseable in this then we can say he is in Hell. Thus, it appears to me that Buddhism provides a scientific explanation regarding the origin of man, his deeds and his destiny.
