นับแต่ช่วงหลังของศตวรรษที่ 18 ได้มีการทำให้มีความแตกต่าง ระหว่าง
BORN และ BORNEที่ต่างเป็น past participles ของ กริยา BEAR
โดยในทุกความหมายของ BORNE ไม่มีการอ้างถึง การเกิดทางกายภาพ เช่น
“The wheat fields have borne abundantly this year.”
“Judges have always borne a burden of responsibility.”
ใช้ BORNE เป็น participle ได้ด้วยเมื่อใช้ในความหมาย
“to bring forth (young)”
หากแต่ต้อง focus ไปที่ the mother มิใช่กับเด็ก
เมื่อใช้ในกรณีนี้ ต้องใช้ รูป HAVE นำหน้า และใช้ BY ตามหลัง เช่น
Anna had borne a son the previous year.
Two children borne by her earlier were already grown.
เมื่อ focus ไปที่เด็ก หรือ สิ่งที่นำออกมา เหมือน การเกิด (by birth)
