เมื่อใช้ ‘aim’ ในความหมาย ‘positioning’ (การจัดวางตำแหน่ง)
จะต้อง ตามด้วย ‘at’ เสมอ เช่น
“Don’t aim the gun at me.”
เมื่อใช้ ‘aim’ ในความหมาย ‘to intend’ หรือ ‘to try’
อาจให้ตาม ด้วย “at” หรือ “an infinitive” เช่น
“I aim at your business.”
“I aim to make you happy.”
ไม่ควร ตามหลัง ‘aim’ ด้วยทั้ง ‘at’ และ ‘a gerund’
หลีกเลี่ยง การพูดหรือเขียน เช่น “I aim at proving you wrong.’
ให้ความหมาย “intend” คือ ‘to design’ หรือ ‘to have in mind’
เป็นคำที่ ถือว่ามีความ “สละสลวย”
และเหมาะสม น่าใช้ มากกว่า “aim”
อาจใช้ “intend”และตามด้วย
‘an infinitive’ ‘a gerund’ หรือ ‘a clause’ เช่น
“I intend to ride with you.”
“I intend riding with you.”
“I intend that you follow me promptly.”

ว่า “someone’s aim” หมายถึง
