เป็นบทบรรณาธิการสั้นๆ ชี้ให้เห็นพัฒนาการของ AI ในช่วงครึ่งศตวรรษว่าก้าวหน้ามาก แต่ก็มีคน วิตกกันมากในผลด้านลบ ทั้งที่เป็นผลลบหรืออันตรายโดยตรง กับที่เป็นผลทางอ้อม เช่นทำให้คนตกงาน ทำให้คนเปลี่ยนนิสัย ที่จริงเรื่องคนเปลี่ยนนิสัยนี้เราเห็นชัดเจนอยู่แล้ว ที่เรียก Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z
ดังนั้น จึงต้องมีการศึกษาติดตามตรวจสอบผลต่อมนุษย์และต่อสังคม ที่จะเกิดจาก AI อย่างจริงจัง เป็นที่มาของโปรแกรม “ร้อยปีศึกษา AI” ที่มหาวิทยาลัยสแตนฟอร์ด รวมทั้งมีการก่อตั้ง Partnership on AI เพื่อหาทางทำให้ AI ก่อผลดี ป้องกันผลร้ายจาก AI

I too worry about some use of AI (now at consumers level like the Internet 20 years ago) and its impacts on societies. It is a powerful tool that the poor cannot afford, and the poor's jobs can be replaced (by AI robotis) or reduced. There are many examples of reduction in number of workers with deployment of "mechanical" robots. There will be similar reduction in number of 'white collar' workers (accountants, solicitors, nurses, teachers, administrative clearks, ...). Education systems (around the world) aim to supply workers to industries. But imdustries are/will be filling their operational requirements with AI-based procedures and/or robots. [A report says upto 4 in 10 university students will not find a job in the field of their study when they graduate. More for vocational study fields.]
The social costs will be high for many people in many industries. Thailand is not ready for AI yet. Are there considerations, in Thailand 4.0 and the 20 year nation deveopment plan, for AI implications on economy and society?
No, the answer is not to ignore AI. Because AI+robots are the new wave of change (driven be global corporations like Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft,... in competition for the 'new 'Holy Grail'). Thailand will need to 'prepared for change', redefine and replan employment. social and political conditions and so on. A future planning again... before we settle into the 20 year plan!
