แต่ถ้า “บางสิ่ง เกิดขึ้นอยู่ตลอดระยะเวลา” โดย”ไม่หยุดหรือไม่มีท่าจะหยุด” เรียกว่า

เกิดอย่าง “continuous” เช่น “There was continuous rain.”

ใช้ “continual” ได้แต่เพียงให้ “นำหน้า นาม” เท่านั้น อย่าใช้ตามหลัง กริยา

ใช้ “continuous” ได้ทั้ง “ให้นำหน้า นาม หรือตามหลัง กริยา ที่เชื่อมประโยค”

‘Breathing should be slow and continuous.’

ถ้าบรรยายว่า “บางสิ่งไม่น่ายินดีที่เกิดขึ้นต่อเนื่อง/มีอยู่อย่างไม่หยุด”

ควรใช้คำ “continual” มากกว่า คำ “continuous” เช่น

‘Life is a continual struggle.’

‘It was sad to see her the victim of continual pain.’
