เป็น สองคำ ที่มีการนำมาใช้ประโยชน์ได้ มากที่สุด เช่น
“look at her” “at the door” “at night”
“at the party” “at noon” “at the controls” และ
“in the rain” “in a moment” “stuck in the leg”
“in cash” “in control” “in fear” และ “in haste” เป็นต้น
ที่สงสัย กัน คือว่า จะใช้ สองคำนี้ แทนที่กัน ได้หรือไม่
ไม่มีกฎกติกาที่แน่ชัด กำหนดวิธีใช้อย่างถูกต้องของ At และ in
ผู้ที่มิได้ใช้ อังกฤษ เป็นพื้นฐาน มักสับสนกับการใช้สองคำนี้ อย่างถูกต้อง
วิธีเดียว ของการเรียนรู้ คือ “ต้องฟังให้มาก”
และ “ใช้ตามด้วยความเคยชิน” เท่านั้น
เช่น การพูดว่า “I am all at sea.”
หากแต่ ต้องใช้ “Whales live in the sea.”
ที่ชวนงง คือ “Do you arrive in a city หรือ at a city?”

I am still learning how to use 'at' and 'in' (properly) after some 40 years of using English ;-)
Both 'at' and 'in' can be used to tell 'space' (place) position (thatis why they are 'pre-position'). 'at' says 'in front' or roughly where we know, 'in' says 'inside'. So "We'd arrive at Bangkok ..." and "We'd be in Bangkok..." both say much the same but 'at' says we would be at the gate of Bangkok (ie. at Suvannabhumi Airport), and 'in' says we would be inside Bagkok.
'At' and 'in' are also used to tell 'time'. For examples 'We'd arrive at Bangkok at 5 AM..."; and "We'd be in Bangkok in the early morning". Here 'at' tells 'precise' time, but 'in' tells 'roughly' within/inside a period/duration of time.
English is a funny/weird language ;-)
