At the coal-face
It's during a time, keeping up economy rules over our lives
Climate change, air pollution, traffic noises... toxic ecology derives.
Come inside, shut the door, pull down curtains, switch on that air-condition
Cool comfort, filtered air, block off noises... electricity in action.
The afternoon Sun in smoggy sky, reddish hot and hazy, covered in soot
Coal-burning electricity plants, bellowed particulates and gases, making loot.
Fine coal dust, blown into furnace fire, water boiled to steam, turning turbines
Spinning coils between magnets, Faraday devices, in all coal-burning shrines.
Fly-ash, a by-product, makes cheaper and weaker concrete for roads and buildings
Hot brine coolant, another pollutant, permeates groundwater, adds salts to surroundings.
People's Health and Environment, costs not included, by power generators
Cleaning, repairing, suffering in communities, no burden to power sellers.
Lost of lives, opportunities, tourist attractions, businesses,... all brushed aside
For electricity and its makers are power - coal-burning power that is, worldwide.

Not a taint of destruction reaches the hand of which a finger click.
