Imply & infer ความหมายเดิมของทั้งสองแตกต่างกัน เช่น

คำ Implied หมายความว่า บางสิ่งในคำพูดของ Speaker นั้น

ชี้แนะว่า นายพลคนนี้ เป็นคนทรยศ (ถึงแม้จะไม่ได้กล่าวอย่างชัดเจนว่าเป็นสิ่งใด)
