Phayathai Babies home

 

                   In Thailand, there are a great numbers of infants who have been abandoned in hospitals and medical stations. Most of them have also been abused and are victims of human trafficking.  

                -These abandoned infants have been sent to Babies Orphanage, this concerns 25-30 children per month, they have been deprived from food, milk, and warm touch by their parents and their care takes. It is necessary to provide them with love and warmth. Creating new structures, innovative concepts in order to assist these high number is necessary and a great idea. Group Nurture Process offers for special cases these innovative ideas which provide what real parents should give: excluding 4 requisites.  

-          Many infants have died. Still some face health problems: physical and psychological.

 

             When the children are touched with warmth, are given  massages and are played music to, they immediate reaction is a smile, they are happy. This is a direct effect that you can see: they laugh and chat.   

- The result of these attentions given to the children is a decreasing number of children sent to general medical check-up. We have less respiratory problems and ear problems. Our records show that in the past 40 children were examined per month, today only 10 children have a check up a month.

- Our number also show that due to this care the children that attend Kindergarden (3.5-4 years old)  has reached 100% as for prior to these attentions only 40% of the children were able to attend.

 

  - Brainstorming among Development teams of Babies Orphanage has gotten good support from the government sector and the private sector. They are supporting all innovations and processes on how to nurture a great number of orphans (new-borns - 5 years old). Its purpose is to continue to implement standards, to improve with efficiency.

    a.

Sharing and compiling ideas by inviting students, volunteers and  people both from inside and outside the country to visit organizations and give us feedback on their observations. After, the development team will analyze this information making the children the priority of this study.

      b. One of the priorities is team management and its organization:

   Today we have 6 main innovative ideas and 6 further ideas.

First 6 Main ideas:

1. Massage & listening to the songs

2. Baby bathtub

3. Baby dining table

4. Play & learn library

5. Preparation room for biological family and /or adoptive family which is needed for each process: a minimum of 3 days.

6. Early childhood learning center.

 

Additional 6 other ideas

1. Decorate ceilings so as to stimulate the children eyesight.
2. Rubber floors
3. Colorful outdoor playgrounds
4. Baby-sitter volunteers
5. To develop supportive family and volunteer families.
6. Thai Folk Activity like a Buddhism Day.

 

    c. Some colleagues routinely do they work, it becomes repetitious and they are the ones that first were against this project. But after a brainstorming session we created the Knowledge Management project and today we still meet on regular basis to develop and continually improve. Finally the problem has been solved with spirit, support and teamwork.

 

 

d . We started with a limited budget from government and today we are also supported by the private sector (Corporate Social Responsibility). Also we are giving the opportunity to the private sector and volunteers to participate in Organization Development. Finally our goal is that every sector sees beyond the importance of children development and it is a role model of Early-Childhood Development Center.

 

  Babies Orphanage has been assigned as a role model of Early-Childhood Development Center. The purpose is to nurture new-born babies - 5 years old so as to receive warmth and love from their enviroment. We have arranged for facilitators to provide and communicate knowledge to the public. All comments and recommendations had been reviewed and considered in order to improve our organization.
