(เล่าต่อจากตอนที่แล้ว)

Prof.Brendan Finucane ได้เดินทางไปบรรยายเรื่อง Pain ที่ มช.ในช่วงสัปดาห์ที่สอง  และได้ให้เวลาที่เหลือกับชาวขอนแก่นเต็มที่  สอนทั้งอาจารย์แพทย์และพชท./พจบ.ท่านได้ลงปฏิบัติงานสอนในห้องผ่าตัด สอนแสดงเทคนิคต่างๆนอกเหนือจากการบรรยายในห้องเรียน ฉันเองก็โชคดีที่ได้มีโอกาสเห็นท่านสอน ...วันนั้นท่านสอนจนเที่ยงแล้วยังติดตามมาดูผลงานการบล็อคในห้องผ่าตัดอีกด้วย  เรียกว่า...จนชัวร์จึงละไปรับประทานอาหารกลางวัน ...ดูท่าท่านจะหิวละวันนั้น

ฉันตามขึ้นไปทีหลัง  พบกันบนโต๊ะอาหาร  ตอนนั้นท่านอิ่มแล้ว 

“ I’m  full.”  ท่านบอกฉัน

“ I’m empty.” ฉันบอกท่านพร้อมกับตบพุงตัวเอง  ท่านหัวเราะ

ตอนนั้นฉันอยากรู้จักชื่อท่าน  ท่านออกเสียงให้ฟังและทำปากให้ดู.... 

“ Brend… Brend…”  ฉันทำตาม  ไม่เหมือนเท่าไหร่

ฉันแนะนำตัวเอง   

“ I’m ติ๋ว ”  ท่านพูดตาม

“  ทิว..ทิ้ว..สิว...หิว....” พยายามอยู่หลายคำ

“ OK .. OK..  เอาๆ...หิวก็หิว” เพราะว่าฉันหิวแล้ว

ท่านได้กรุณาบรรยายเกี่ยวกับภารกิจในสถาบันของท่าน ณ ห้องบรรยายสรรชัยฯ ทำให้เราได้เห็นศักยภาพของสถาบันรวมถึงภารกิจของท่าน  ตลอดจนบรรยากาศที่สวยงามของเมือง Alberta  ที่ท่านแถมมาให้

ฉันถ่ายภาพบรรยากาศจากสไลด์ไว้ได้ไม่ชัดนัก จึงขอนำภาพบรรยากาศจาก website ที่สวยงามมาเสนอค่ะ

ท่านเป็นผู้มีความสามารถสูงมาก นับเป็นโชคดีของคณะแพทย์ มข.ที่เราได้มิตรภาพจากแดนไกล

ก่อนกลับแคนาดา ศ.นพ.สมบูรณ์ เทียนทอง หัวหน้าภาคฯได้มอบของที่ระลึกและถ่ายภาพร่วมกันกับคณาจารย์ในภาคฯ เป็นที่ประทับใจ

Dr Finucane completed his undergraduate training at the National University of Ireland in 1967. He completed his residency training at the University of Liverpool in 1972. He then completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia at the University of Toronto. Dr Finucane then moved to the United States. He was appointed Chief of Anesthesiology at Grady Memorial Hospital in 1977. He was appointed Professor of Anesthesiology at Emory University in 1983. He then returned to Canada in 1989 as Professor and Chair, Department of Anesthesia, University of Alberta where he completed two terms as Chair.

Currently he is the Program Director in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Alberta.

He is a past-president of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and the Academy of Anesthesiology.

His research interests include pharmacology of local anesthetics and clinical research in regional anesthesia, acute pain management and airway management.
