Thailand mourns Princess Galyani: พสกนิกรไทยอาลัยสมเด็จพระพี่นาง


วันนี้ดิฉันขอเสนอข่าวการสิ้นพระชนม์ของสมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอ เจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา กรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ ผู้ทรงมีพระมหากรุณาธิคุณใหญ่หลวงต่อพสกนิกรชาวไทย เนื้อข่าวภาษาไทยมาจากหนังสือพิมพ์ไทยรัฐ ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษบางส่วนมาจาก เว็บไซต์สำนักข่าวซินหัว (Xinhua) ของจีน ลองมาดูคำศัพท์ที่น่าสนใจกันค่ะ

Following the Royal Household Bureau’s announcement that the princess passed awayat the Siriraj Hospital at 2:54 a.m. Wednesday, the PM’s Office announcedthe 15-day mourning period.

mourn (v) for someone = (ไว้ทุกข์แก่ผู้ล่วงลับ)To show grief for a death by conventional signs, as by wearing black clothes. 

Passed away = เสียชีวิต หรือตามราชาศัพท์คือ สิ้นพระชนม์
Royal Household Bureau = สำนักพระราชวัง

ตามที่สำนักพระราชวังได้ออกประกาศ เรื่อง สมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอ เจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา กรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ สิ้นพระชนม์รัฐบาลได้รับทราบด้วยความโทมนัสอย่างยิ่ง และได้พิจารณา เห็นว่า โดยที่ตลอดมา จึงเห็นสมควรประกาศดังต่อไปนี้  

1. ให้สถานที่ราชการ รัฐวิสาหกิจ และสถานศึกษาทุกแห่ง ลดธงครึ่งเสา มีกำหนด 15 วัน ตั้งแต่วันที่ 2 มกราคม 2551 เป็นต้นไป 

All government offices and schools will also lower flags at half mast in the same period.

or

<p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt" class="MsoNormal">The government ordered all state buildings to fly the national flag at half-mast for 15 days. .</p>



2. ให้ข้าราชการและพนักงานรัฐวิสาหกิจไว้ทุกข์ มีกำหนดสิบห้าวัน ตั้งแต่วันที่ 2 มกราคม 2551 เป็นต้นไป ประกาศ ณ วันที่ 2 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2551  

Cabinet (คณะรัฐมนตรี) also sought cooperation from the government officers and state firm employees  to wear black dress for 15 days.

นอกจากนั้น รัฐบาลประกาศขอความร่วมมือจากสถานที่ราชการ รัฐวิสาหกิจ สถานบันเทิงให้งดกิจกรรมรื่นเริงต่างๆ เพื่อเป็นการไว้อาลัยต่อสมเด็จพระพี่นาง

Thailand's Cabinet on Wednesday requested cooperation of government agencies and entertainment venues to suspend merry making activitiesfor 15 days to mourn for Princess Galyani Vadhana.

Suspend = งด เว้นช่วง
Merry making activities = กิจกรรมรื่นเริง จัดมหรสพ     

บอกเพื่อนฝรั่งง่ายๆ ได้ว่า

Thai people are mourning for Princess Galyani Vadhana for 15 days. We are all dressed in black to pay respect to the princess.
