ในการใช้แบบ British English “เมื่อคุณ ‘RING’ บางคน’ หมายถึง
“คุณโทรศัพท์หาและพูดกับเขา”
รูป ‘past tense’ ของ “ring” คือ RANG เช่น
‘I rang Aunt Jane this evening.’
รูป ‘-ed participle’ คือ ‘RUNG’ เช่น
‘Have you rung Dad yet?’
สามารถกล่าวว่า บางคน “ring” สถานที่หนึ่ง เช่น
‘You must ring the hospital.’
ในการสนทนา บ่อยครั้ง ผู้คนใช้ “ring up” แทน “ring”
โดยไม่มีความแตกต่างในความหมาย เช่น
‘He had rung up Emily and told her all about it.’

อย่าใช้ “to” ตามหลัง “ring” หรือ “ring up”
