‘People in the town started making rude comments.’
‘It is unnecessary for me to add any comment.’
นาม “commentary” คือการบรรยายถึง
“เหตุการณ์ ที่ออกอากาศ ทางวิทยุ/ทีวี ขณะที่กำลังดำเนินอยู่” เช่น
‘We gathered round the radio to listen to the commentary.’
‘The program will include live commentary on the US Open.’

ถ้า “comment on” สถานการณ์ หนึ่ง หรือ
“make a comment” ในเรื่องนั้น หมายถึง
“เป็นการให้ความเห็น” ในเรื่องนั้น เช่น
‘Mr. Cook has not commented on these reports.’
‘I was wondering whether you had any comment.’
แต่เมื่อ “mention” บางเรื่อง หมายถึง “กล่าวถึงเรื่องนั้น” เพียงสั้นๆ
โดยเฉพาะ เมื่อไม่เคยพูดถึง เรื่องนั้นมาก่อน เช่น
