About ใช้สำหรับประโยคที่นำเสนอเรื่องอย่างไม่เป็นทางการเท่านั้น
ในงานเขียนเป็นทางการใช้ Regarding …. หรือ With regard to แทน
About เมื่อเป็นบุพบท หมายถึง เกี่ยวเนื่อง - เกี่ยวข้อง หรือเชื่อมโยง กับหัวข้อนั้น
ตัวอย่าง
- What’s that book about?
- A book about politic.
- He lied about his age.
- What’s he on about? (on = พูดถึง)
- My mother wanted to know all about it. (หมายถึงรายละเอียดทั้งหมดที่เกี่ยวข้อง)
- I wish you’d do something about (หมายถึง ดำเนินการเพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาของ) your bedroom – it’s a real mess.
About เมื่อเป็นบุพบท หมายถึง หลายทิศทาง – ภายในสถานที่หนึ่ง –ไม่เป็นระเบียบใช้สำหรับ

ใช้โดยเฉพาะ เมื่อต้องการเริ่มพูดถึงหรือเขียนถึง บางสิ่ง
หรือเพื่อแนะนำหัวข้อเรื่อง ที่ต้องการกล่าวถึงในสุนทรพจน์ การประชุม หรือรายงานเป็นทางการ และอื่นๆ
ตัวอย่างเช่น

On the subject of = เป็นบุพบท
ใช้เมื่อต้องการพูดหรือเขียน on the subject of บางคน หรือบางสิ่ง หมายถึง ต้องการพูดหรือเขียนถึงคนนั้นหรือสิ่งนั้น
ตัวอย่างเช่น
-Kanok said nothing at all on the subject of Miss Tata.
while we’re on the subject ใช้เมื่อกำลังกล่าวถึงหัวข้อหนึ่งและต้องการจะขยายความเรื่องนั้นต่อไป
