14 - Simon says: a communication test (PSE)
Simon says (ไซยม่อน เซสึ) is a children's game for 3 or more players. One player pretends to be 'Simon' and gives commands or instructions (usually, to do simple physical actions) such as:
Simon says 'stand up'
Simon says 'turn around'
'step foreward then step back'
'raise your right hand over your head'
to the other players.
Commands or instructions begin with 'Simon says' should be followed immediately. But commands without 'Simon says' should be ignored.
Players who fail to follow what 'Simon says' or follow other commands (not begin with 'Simon says') are 'out' (eliminated).
The last player 'in play' then wins the right to be next 'Simon' and to give commands. All other players are back 'in' to play again.
For our PSE classes, we will play 'Simon says' in English, using simple but correct commands. We won't judge anyone 'out' because she/he did not do 'exactly' or 'perfectly' as Simon said. It should be fun just to do when 'Simon says' and not to do anything without 'Simon says' first. In all cases, Simon should give commands very clearly in English.
[Dear Teachers
The emphasis of the game for Simon is not to 'shout' in English but to 'communicate clearly'.
The emphasis for other players is to 'listen carefully' and to show their understanding of the communication.
To ensure and maintain safe environment for players, a list of commands may be introduced, written up for every one in class to see and practice. But this reduces the fun part drastically. The game is better with 'elements of surprise' -- unexpected commands! ]

Isn't good to have time to play games while working?
What other games you use in your work?
