More, they have consulted about national verification of about 900,000 migrant workers from Myanmar who are still waiting for the process. In this regard, Myanmar proposed Thailand to establish Centers for National Verification in Thailand and Myanmar will fully support information by linking database with the Ministry of Labour of Thailand.

Potential areas to set these centers were primarily discussed and the following areas, where so many Burmese migrant workers have lived, will be considered first such as Mahachai area in Samut Sakorn, Kanchanaburi, Mae Sot district in Tak and Chiang Rai. The establishment of the Centers in Thailand is to reduce work as well as time to work in process. As mentioned, Myanmar also agreed to link database of migrant workers with Thailand and to have their officials stationed in these Centers as well.

Furthermore, H.E.U Maung Myint informed that from this time on the Minister of Labour of Myanmar has been taken charge of the issue of migrant workers instead of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And on this coming Thursday (13 October 2011), the Minister of Labour of Myanmar is going to visit and discuss about this issue again, Mr.Phadermchai said.
