It's time to pay thanks, make your wishes, and float the past suffering

Loi Krathong Festival is being held nationwide this week. You can join in for free.  Just dress up and go there. Where? Every communities.  Those who are in Bangkok, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Tak, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Songkla can check out the venue from this page.

If you are not in those great cities, you need no worry. You will enjoy one in your present city.  In the municipal city of Phitsanulok, you should go to Suan Rim Chom Nan, on the banks of Nan River in the proximity of Wat Yai (Full name; Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Vora Maha Viharn, in Thai วัดพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุวรมหาวิหาร, amazingly, its details have been available in deutsch as well).  This monastery temple is the home of one of the most respectful and beautiful Buddha images in the world. So, it's most worth visiting.

You can also join ones held by the institutes or organizations in this city. The University of Naresuan has its official event tonight, even though some faculties have started the occurence since yesterday. It will begin with many contests including "The hand-made Krathong contest", "Thai country song and dance contest", and last-but-not-least "The Noppamas Queen Contest" (Noppamas is a legendary figure from the Sukhothai period. Here, for more details [in Thai]).

Interestingly, I'm glad to tell you that all performances and activities in this event have been proudly presented and coordinated by the council of the students of the university.  They must have the mind like "learn-hard-and-play-hard".

By the way, the theme will be "Conserve the planet, Be proud of the nation, and Keep in mind the environment-friendly action".  This theme will be reflected in the contest of recycling fantasy dress (you could propably have some LOL in this episode.).

It's time to pay thanks (to the river that has been used in our everyday life. It's believed that there is god in the river), make your wishes, and float the past sufferings.

Let's share the moments of joy and happiness in this festival. See you there.

I might make a lot of mistakes, if you find one(s), please kindly let me know.  It's not finshed, yet.  I've got to go!

=====================================

I have taken around thirty pictures of the parades of participating students from most of the faculties (There are currently 16 faculties.) which bring along their Krathongs and Noppasmases to the contest arena. Unfortunately, many of the pictures are not in good quality. Here are some of the fairly good ones (sorry for that!).
