Topic : Is the testing system in Thailand satisfactory if not why? or how can it be improved?

I think the testing system in Thailand is not satisfactory. I have had some experience about the testing in the Thai academic system since I started primary school. Now I am a lecturer in a university. My experiences are both as a student who has done tests and as a lecturer who gives tests for students. I will present three reasons why the testing system in Thailand is not satisfactory, in addition, I will offer the solution for the problems.

First of all, many tests have multi-choice answers. In the Thai education system many tests in primary and secondary schools the students have to choose from given choice answers, as a result, students can't show their understanding. In addition, when they are admitted to university, they may lack analytical thinking skill.

Second, many tests in the Thai academic system the students must memorize the answer. If the student can't remember the answer they can't give a correct answer, moreover, the student will not have an opportunity to show their analytical thinking.

The last reason is that many Thai teachers, especially old teachers, still believe their students must learn by memorizing the things that their teacher have taught or lectured. The students must take the test by using their memorize ability. It is a traditional way to study in Thai schools.

In conclusion, these are major problems about the testing system in Thailand. It's not easy to solve these problem. However, the major solution is that it's necessary for the teacher or lecturer to change their opinion about testing. Moreover, they should emphasize analytical thinking rather than memorizing.
