We noted that young students were carrying "overweight backpacks" some 3 years ago on our journey through the South of Thailand. I commented about this in my poem about family life in Thailand

It has taken awhile for someone to notice this. But how long will it take for someone to do something about it? Do we have to wait until one of those kids gains power and act? Perhaps it is time to digitized textbooks and put them on tablets?

(It won't happen when money comes before well-being of children. Sigh!)

There are more observations that should have been noted by governments and schools in the poem. These are social issues that need remedy actions -- urgently. They will cost more to repair the damages than to prevent the problems in the first place. (If we have people who have vision and passion to move the country to a greater things. Sigh!)
