Love Theories Through Psychological Analysis and Observation

Love Theories Through Psychological Analysis and Observation

Love is always widely discussed and interested by many people. It can be explained or determined by various theories. Love is not easily defined or characterised. Love offers many shades of humanity. It has different sides ranging from psychological, sociological, scientific, to bonds as social animals.

Theories that are discussed in this article include studies from esteemed sociologists. The first one is a theory by Zick Rubin. He stated that deep love or romantic love originates from three factors; 1. Attachment 2. Caring 3. Intimacy. These might be from sexual relations or feelings. These three components are combined into love as we know it.

As mentioned above, there is no theory that can explain love wholly and clearly because everyone has different angles about love. Love doesn’t necessarily consist of the three components stated by the theory by Rubin.

Love may originate from just one factor. For instance, when we care about someone, caring may become frustration when they are not around or lose contact. If the thought still persists, it might be a sign that love happens at a certain stage. In other words, this special feeling may be something much more.

Another interesting theory is from Elaine Hatfield, an American psychologist. She thought love can be sorted by intimacy or levels of passion. This can normally happen in accord to human nature. Love is compared to compassion which we all know wholeheartedly.

The phrase “Pity love and sympathetic love” can cause the loved ones to feel bad about love due to pity. They may feel that it is forced on by their self-fulfilling responsibility. Pressure is the main focus instead of intimacy and passion.

This kind of love usually happens during teenage years such as pity love caused by unplanned pregnancy. This is more like a burden for them. In this case, it cannot be called love as we all define what love is.

In the writer’s point of view, love is interpreted by different perspectives, referenced by esteemed specialists. This article might raise questions about where your love can originate from. Maybe, the universe match up for you, or long term relationships do the work. Love can also happen from trauma or pity that can bind people together.
