Somehow, I feel that 'good deeds' should be done when we can see the results clearly. Doing things and not knowing what we do them for can be "dangerous?" or "wasteful?". But as you mean when we only see the results for doers/ourselves rather than results for receivers, we downgrade ourselves and our doings ;-)
