ในช่วงต้นปีที่ผ่านมาเป็นช่วงของช้าง ช้างและก็ช้าง สำหรับผมแล้วกล้วยไม้สกุลช้างเป็นกล้วยไม้ที่ผมมีความชื่นชอบเป็นพิเศษเพราะว่านอกจากความสวยงามแล้ว ยังมีความหอม มีความหลากหลายของสี เช่นสีแดง ขาว(เผือก) กระ ชมพู ส้ม เหลือง บานเย็น ไม้สกุลนี้ได้รับความสนใจมากนานและก็ยังได้รับการยอมรับอย่างต่อเนื่อง มีการผสมและคัดเลือกสายพันธุ์ ซึ่งทำให้เกิดลูกผสมขึ้นมามากมายครับ ลูกผสมของกล้วยไม้สกุลนี้ได้รับการจดบันทึกครั้งแรกในปี ค.ศ. 1961 ชื่อที่ขึ้นทะเบียนคือ Renanstylis Queen Emma เป็นลูกผสมข้ามสกุลของ Renanthera storiei (ต้นแม่/ถือฝัก) กับ Rhynchostylis gigantea (ต้นพ่อ/เกสร) สำหรับชื่อที่ได้รับการตั้งชื่อของกล้วยไม้ลูกผสมสกุลช้างตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1961 -2004 สามารถดูได้จาก ลูกผสมของกล้วยไม้ช้าง (Rhynchostylis gigantea) ในคนรักกล้วยไม้ (ตามลิงค์ http://www.gotoknow.org/blogs/posts/30989 ) ส่วนลูกผสมที่ได้รับการจดทะเบียนใหม่ ตั้งแต่ปี 2005-2010 เฉพาะส่วนที่ใช้ช้างเป็นต้นพ่อ มีดังนี้
