ลูกไม้หล่นไม่ไกลต้น Chip off the old block

วันก่อนดูละครทีวีแล้วได้ยินสำนวนน่าสนใจ เลยนำมาฝากค่ะ

chip off the old block = family likeness

การที่ลูกมีลักษณะ หรือหน้าตาเหมือนพ่อแม่ หรือทำตามอย่างพ่อแม่ อาจเทียบกับสำนวนภาษาไทยได้ว่า “ลูกไม้หล่นไม่ไกลต้น”

When the son (or daughter) is in some way very similar to the father (or mother), we say he/she is a “chip off the old block”.

A chip off the old block is the child who is similar to the parent.

For example:

"Did you meet Dave’s son at the picnic yesterday? He's just like Dave!”  "Yeah, he's a chip off the old block."

Libby takes after her mother. She is now studying French and tourism because she wants to be a flight attendant just like her mother. She’s a chip off the old block.

takes after = ทำตามอย่าง To resemble (a parent or ancestor) in appearance or habit; to follow someone's example

Suri Cruise is a chip of the old block. She looks like her mother.

Or sometimes people say "like father, like son"

I am a teacher just like my mother. I am a chip of the old block.

น้องอ้อมขอบคุณมากที่ไปเล่าเรื่องในบันทึก ลืมไปเหมือนกันไม่ค่อยได้ใช้เลย   แตลูกไม้ย่อนหล่นไม่ไกลต้นจริงๆๆเอามาฝากอาจารย์ ที่ NZ อากาศเป็นอย่างไรบ้างครับ
