Past Simple Tense

Past Simple Tense คือ Tense ที่แสดงการกระทำที่เกิดขึ้นแล้ว และจบลงแล้วในอดีต ไม่ต่อเนื่องจนถึงปัจจุบัน

Form : S + V2 (เติม ed) + O .

- That student always walked to school last year.

- The teacher punished bad students yesterday.

หลักการใช้ Present Simple Tense

1. ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีต และเสร็จสิ้นไปแล้วในอดีต มักจะมี adverb of time แสดงไว้ด้วย เช่น yesterday, last night(week,month,year), ago, in 1997

I lived in London two years ago.

His father died in 1978.

Peter drove to Pattaya last Sunday.

2. ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นซ้ำๆ เป็นประจำ เป็นกิจวัตรประจำวันหรือเป็นนิสัย อาจจะมีกลุ่มคำที่แสดงเวลาต่อไปนี้อยู่ด้วย เช่น always(เสมอ), usually (ตามปกติ), often (บ่อยๆ), sometimes (บางเวลา) แต่ปัจจุบันไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นอีกแล้ว เช่น

I always got up at 5 o’clock last year.

He usually went to bed at 10 o’clock ten years ago

Dave often played football last month.

3. ใช้แสดงการกระทำที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีต ตามลำดับเหตุการณ์ กริยาทุกตัวจะอยู่ในรูปอดีตPast simple (V2) เช่น

I entered the living room, switched on the television and sat on the sofa.

คำกริยาหลักที่ใช้ใน Past Simple Tense ต้องเป็นคำกริยาช่องที่ 2 แบ่งออกได้ 2 ชนิดคือ

I. Regular Verbs หมายถึงคำกริยาช่องที่ 2 รูปปกติเติม ed

หลักการเติม ed

1. คำที่ลงท้ายด้วย y หน้า y เป็นพยัญชนะ ให้เปลี่ยน y เป็น i แล้วเติม ed เช่น

study – studied / cry – cried / fly – flied / fry –fried / try- tried

แต่ถ้าหน้า y เป็นสระ(a,e,i,o,u ) ให้เติม s ได้เลย เช่น

play - played / enjoy – enjoyed / obey – obeyed

2. คำที่มีพยางค์เดียว ตัวสะกดตัวเดียว สระตัวเดียว และออกเสียงสั้น ให้เพิ่มตัวสะกดอีก 1 ตัว แล้วเติม ed เช่น

beg – begged / plan – planned / stop – stopped / rob – robbed

3. คำที่มี 2 พยางค์ และออกเสียงเน้นหนักที่พยางค์ท้าย ให้เพิ่มตัวสะกดอีก 1 ตัวแล้วเติม ed

refer – referred / occur – occurred /

4. คำที่ลงท้ายด้วย e ให้เติม d ได้เลย เช่น

move – moved / dye – dyed / die - died

5. คำทั่วไป เติม ed ได้เลย เช่น

walk – walked / clean - cleaned / laugh – laughed

หลักการออกเสียงคำที่เติม ed

1. ออกเสียงเป็น “ t” เมื่ออยู่ท้ายคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย เสียงไม่ก้อง (อโฆษะ)เช่น k,p,ch,sh,gh,s,x

parked / stopped / watched / washed / laughed / passed / mixed

2. ออกเสียงเป็น “d” เมื่ออยู่ท้ายคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย เสียงก้อง (โฆษะ) เช่น b,l,m,n, r

climbed / cleaned / screamed / ruled / cared / occurred /smiled

3. ออกเสียงเป็น “id” เมื่ออยู่ท้ายคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย t หรือ d เช่น

wanted / needed / waited / painted / added / pointed /

II. Irregular Verbs หมายถึงคำกริยาช่องที่ 2 ที่เปลี่ยนรูปไป หรืออคงรูปเดิม เช่น

1. คำกริยาที่คงรูปเดิม เช่น cut- cut / hit-hit / put-put / let-let

2. คำกริยาที่เปลี่ยนรูปไป เช่น

go – went / drink – drank / sleep – slept / take – took etc.

การสร้างประโยคคำถาม (Questions) และประโยคปฏิเสธ (Negative)

1. ใช้ Did มาช่วยสร้างประโยคคำถาม และที่ท้ายประโยคใส่เครื่องหมาย ?

2. ใช้ did not( didn’t) มาช่วยสร้างประโยคปฏิเสธ

3. เมื่อใช้ did มาช่วยแล้ว ที่คำกริยา ให้คงรูปเดิม

- Did Tom speak Thai ? / What did your mother do ?

- She didn’t come to school. / Suda did not drink coffee.

4. Wh – Question ( What, Where, When, Why, Who, Whom, How )

ใช้ did มาช่วย และวาง WH- Question ไว้หน้าประโยค ลงท้ายด้วยเครื่องหมาย ?

Form : Wh-Question + did + Subject + Vเดิม + Object ?

Affirmative : He finished work at 6 p.m. yesterday.

Negative : He didn’t finish work at 6 p.m. yesterday.

Question : Did he finish work at 6 p.m. yesterday? ( Yes, he did.)

Wh-Question : When did he finish work yesterday? ( At 6 p.m. )

Affirmative : They played football.

Negative : They didn’t play football.

Question : Did they play football ? ( No, they didn’t.)

Wh-Question : What did they play ? ( Football. )
