นิทานภาษาอังกฤษสามารถช่วยพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านของนักเรียนได้

นิทาน เป็นเรื่องเล่าสืบต่อกันมา กล่าวได้ว่าเป็นวรรณกรรมที่เก่าแก่ที่สุด นิทานอาจมีกำเนิดพร้อม ๆ กับครอบครัวของมนุษยชาติ มูลเหตุที่มาแต่เริ่มแรก คงเป็นเรื่องที่เกิดขึ้นจริงแล้วเล่าสู่กันฟัง มีการเพิ่มเติมเสริมแต่งให้พิสดารมากยิ่งขึ้น จนห่างไกลจากเรื่องจริง กลายเป็นนิทานไป การเขียนนิทานในความหมายแรก อาจเป็นการเขียนจากจินตนาการก็ได้ ท่านลองอ่านนิทานเรื่องนี้แล้วลองตอบคำถามด้วยนะครับ

The Ugly Duckling

                   Near a river, Mother Duck was incubating five eggs.  In due time, four of the eggs except one egg didn’t hatch.

                   Suddenly, the egg gradually hatched. “Oh my goodness! How ugly it is!” But Mother Duck welcomed it into the flock.

                   One day mother Duck took her five duckling for a swimming lesson in the pond. On the way they came across a cow, a sheep, a pig. They made fun of the Ugly Duckling and laughed at him. “Hey! What is that ugly thing supposed to be?”

                    In a moment the  duckling walked to come across cock and hen “Hey! Have you ever seen anything so ugly?”

                    The next day the Ugly Duckling went astray in a beaker’s home. When the baker saw the Ugly Duckling he shouted “ Go away , you ugly creature.”

                    His sister often treated the ugly duckling so badly.

                    Time went by. The duckling became full-grown. The ugly duckling became a big and strong white duck. Once more he could now fly and high into the sky with his strong wings.

                    One day the Ugly Duckling saw a flock of swans swimming below. He was so amazed by their beauty that he decided to fly closer to the stream.

                    The ugly duckling saw his shadow in the water it was the reflection of a graceful swan. In fact he had never been an ugly duckling but now it was a swan. Finally it was able to find his real parents, and they lived happily ever after in the stream.
