The Horse and The Lion

Once upon a time, there was a lion. He was very hungry because he was too old to go hunting. He could only wait for some unfortunate animals that came across his way.

A horse came by. The lion was quite pleased to have horse to eat, or so he thought. However horse could run very fast; the lion knew that he could not run fast enough. Lion thought of a plan to lure the horse to come to him and greeted the horse, “Hey, Mr. Horse. You run so swift and gracious. I am Lion the healer. Do you want to be examed?”

But the horse knew what the lion was up to and pretended to trust the lion. “Well, my foot is hurted. I might have stepped on a thorn.”

The lion was glad that he successfully tricked the horse. He asked the horse to come a little closer so, he could look at the foot. The horse lifted up his back leg to show where a thorn might have been. Once he saw that the lion was not paying attention, the horse back kicked. The lion fell on his behind. The horse ran away and laughed out loud because he was able to beat the lion with his own little trick.

The Moral of this story is:

“He, who thinks to defeat others by tricks, will fall to his own deception.”
