In conclusion Bantak Hospital improved quality by implementing The Quality and Healthy Model. Replication can only be made in other hospital only when individual setting and context are taken into account in parallel with thorough grasp of concepts and integration of quality tools and techniques.

Abstract       

The Quality Hospital: A Case Study of new model at Bantak Hospital, Thailand

                  By using observation and interview with documentary analysis during 1997-2004, this action research was to study about the concepts, principles and practices relating to the accreditation by the Institute of Quality Improvement and Hospital Accreditation of Thailand. The staffers of Bantak Hospital had collectively developed a model for quality improvement , so called The Quality and Healthy House Model to be applied in their hospital. In their thrive for better quality, a lot of changes were made so as the hospital could expand the hospital and services with donation out of population’s goodwill and trust. Eventually accredited by Hospital Accreditation and highly honoured by program, Healthy workplace and Health promoting hospital. T staffs, the hospital was decreased stress in working, had improved their working spirits, teamwork, flexibility with minimum conflicts. To Bantak District population, better health status was witnessed with more clients satisfaction and better risk management. To management team, more focus was made on development strategy than routine operation or conflict reduction. Key success factors for quality improvement in this study were 7 Cs: commitment, competency, common vision, corporate culture, continuity, communication and community/customer focus.
