Albedo Experiment Hits the Spot on Global Warming

Garnering more than 70 media hits and reaching a potential audience of more than 1.7 billion all over the world, IGLO and NASA’s Albedo Experiment was a demonstration of the impact international cooperation can make. Registration is now open for this year’s IGLO Preconference at the ASTC Annual conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While ASTC 2008 will is hosted by The Franklin Institute, the IGLO Preconference will take place on Friday, October 17 at the Academy of Natural Sciences. This all-day session is called "Measuring Our Carbon Footprint and Fingerprints on Climate Change" and was organized with the help of David Herring, NOAA and formerly NASA. It aims to provide attendees with a clearer understanding of the science and economics pervading the politics of carbon emissions...(more)

 



5SCWC: The Toronto Declaration and IGLO

As the international science center field's first unified statement of its goals and beliefs, the Toronto Declaration was unveiled at the 5th Science Center World Congress (5SCWC). This document, which was read and endorsed at the 5SCWC closing ceremony on June 19, asserts that science centers can be “a powerful force for good.” It sets forth the following objectives: increasing access to science centers, connecting people through science, facilitating dialogue and engagement in scientific issues, and working toward achieving the United Nations Millennium Goals - many of which are IGLO's aims as well.
