From my own observations on ‘kindy education’ (my grandchild as the subject) in QLD:
1) children are encouraged to ‘look for, challenge, and complete’ obstacle courses (designs for playgrounds, activities and ‘safety awareness’);
2) children are encouraged to ‘be independent’ (draw {line] pictures, dress themselves, make simple meals [like sandwiches], and ask for things and help);
3) children activities are mixtures of culture (language, rituals, social), nature (environment, interactions with animals and plants, and ‘hygiene’), and technologies (using and ‘making’ [man-made] tools and objects, arts,…]
I think ‘kindy education’ is much the same world with some variations in themes and emphases. And ‘good’ kindy staff is the major issue for quality provision.
