I have seen ‘Linux TLE’ [collaborative] group dissolved due to lack of participation. My calls for participation in “เรียน กข” to develop ‘free and open source’ online educational tools received only few ‘courtesy’ responses and encouragement. Many past calls (eg. free Royal Institute Thai-Thai Dictionary, ‘Stop Killing Mother Fish’, ‘Stop Rubbish our Roads’, …) all went ‘flat’. I can only conclude that we have a general lack of ‘collaborative mindset’ in Thai society and simple altruistic urge to contribute to public well-being is not enough. Perhaps, more exploitative schemes are needed.
